PHRYGIA. Amorium. 2nd-1st century BC. AE (Bronze, 18 mm, 7.73 g, 12 h), Sokrates and Aristeides, magistrates. Laureate head of Zeus to right; on cheek, countermark: owl standing right, head facing; to left, monogram; all within circular incuse. Rev. ΣΩΚΡΑΤ / ΑΡΙΣΤΕΙΔΟΥ / [ΑΜΟΡΙ]ΑΝΩΝ Eagle standing right on thunderbolt, with kerykeion over his left shoulder. SNG Copenhagen 113. SNG von Aulock 3391. An interesting example with a lovely countermark. Areas of weakness on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
